I am a two-time Loeb Awards finalist with 2+ decades of journalism experience. After getting a bachelor's degree from Duke University in electrical engineering and classical studies, I got a master's in journalism from the University of Florida, did stints as a police-beat reporter for the Gainesville Sun and Chicago Tribune and then worked at Bloomberg News for 15 years in New York and Mexico City – covering Wall Street during the 2008 crisis, leading an investigation into Federal Reserve emergency lending and later breaking the JPMorgan "London Whale" story. After a few years as chief finance and economics correspondent for TheStreet, I joined CoinDesk in 2019 – building out our markets coverage to a global team and more recently overseeing Tech and Protcols coverage. In my spare time I am a working dad, play guitar, sing and hike.
