Introducing the Consensus Blog

Come here to learn all about the Consensus 2023 agenda, activations, networking opportunities and so much more.

Consensus Blog

Since 2015 Consensus has served as the industry’s premier event that brings together the crypto community at large to meet face to face, discuss the ongoings of the industry and decide the path forward.

Nine years is a long time in any industry, but those of us in this industry know that nine years may as well be a millennium when it comes to crypto. Since 2015 crypto and blockchain have gone from niche concepts to having a hugely mainstream presence. CoinDesk and Consensus have been there through it all.

As the industry has grown over the years, the annual Consensus gathering has grown right alongside it. What started as a few hundred people in a ballroom in New York City has now evolved into many thousands of dedicated industry professionals taking over the Convention Center in downtown Austin, Texas.

For me, this is my second Consensus as a member of the CoinDesk team. I’ve seen just how much planning and curation go into each detail of this event. I get the inside scoop on why every speaker was selected, how each panel is curated and the thought processes behind our stages and topic categories. There is so much that goes into this event and I don’t want the Consensus community to miss a beat!

Introducing the Consensus blog

At their best, conferences and industry events leave you feeling inspired and energized to take on new projects, tackle industry-wide problems and maintain relationships with new, like-minded people just as motivated as yourself. But even the most well-curated events can be a little overwhelming, especially when they cover dozens of topics, welcome hundreds of speakers and expect thousands of attendees as Consensus 2023 will do.

Have no fear. With the launch of this new Consensus blog, I am here to explain the ins and outs of Consensus as a Consensus insider. This blog is designed to showcase all the ways Consensus has grown since 2015, highlight this year’s most important programming and to share an inside look at the makings of the world’s largest, most influential and most comprehensive event in crypto and Web3.

Who is Joey @ Consensus?

I’ve been at CoinDesk since March 2022, where it was immediately all systems go preparing for last year’s Consensus. Chances are you are familiar with my work. I’ve written a few pieces on CoinDesk (see here and here), but I spend most of my time writing all the marketing copy for Consensus.

I’ve been writing about crypto since 2020, which means that I know a few things about the industry – but there is still so much to learn. I love being a crypto and Web3 writer (and specifically writing about Consensus) because I never stop learning about exciting new technologies and products.

I’m personally interested in Web3 marketing, the potential of Web3 and decentralized autonomous organizations (DAO) to make positive social changes, art and music. I have a lot of professional experience with regulation, financial services and cryptocurrency.

Join me on this journey

CoinDesk’s annual crypto and Web3 gathering is no small feat. Each year the CoinDesk team works hard to make sure Consensus is exactly what the industry needs at that time in history.

This year that undertaking is more important and challenging than ever. As the crypto industry grapples with massive losses from the fallout of the FTX collapse, Web3 technologies are being adopted by the world’s largest brands and spread to the masses. These are truly unique and unprecedented times for our industry.

Join me on this journey to making this year’s Consensus the most important conversation in crypto and Web3. I look forward to seeing you face to face in Austin April 26-28.
